review rating - 1 to 5 stars Kickapoo MTB Exceeds Expectations - Kickapoo State Recreation Area has over 22 miles of mountain biking trails. These trails draw visitors from all over the Midwest. You will be surprised with the quality of the trail system and the beauty of the park. Everyone will find something they love about riding here. There is a great mountain biking guide available for those wanting to learn about the trails. This guide was created by the local city to promote the trail system. https//storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/aa2e3a41c3dc40fdb2aee1f3d0c2d058

review rating - 1 to 5 stars So Sad - I remember my parents stopping to show this park to us when my brother and I were young. A couple of years ago, I took my own family back to show them. As others have mentioned, the park is insane shape. The bugs were terrible. Granted, it is in the river bottoms, but as the first state park encountered upon entering the state, definitely a huge disappointment.

1/27/2018 8:46:11 AM Lincoln Trail Homestead State Park by Margaret Evans
review rating - 1 to 5 stars A place worth restoring - The FRIENDS of Lincoln Trail Homestead State Park are an active committee of the Community Environmental Council of Macon Co who are working to restore this site to exemplify the historical significance it deserves. Little known, but the first home of Abraham Lincoln in Macon Co, it includes a scenic bluff overlooking the Sangamon River. The boat launch has been restored, steps redone and a native garden is planted around the memorial rock and flagpole. Visit Facebook for more information
