1. Caballo Lake State Park offers a designated swimming area in the lake.
2. Lifeguards are not provided, so swim at your own risk.
3. Swimming is allowed during park hours from 6 am to 9 pm.
4. The water quality of the lake is regularly monitored for safety.
5. Visitors can also enjoy other water activities like boating and fishing alongside swimming.

The park offers a variety of routes suitable for different skill levels; always choose wisely based on your experience.
Mountain biking in particular poses challenges with steep inclines and rocky paths - not advisable for beginners or those unprepared.
Ensure you have adequate water supplies as temperatures can soar during summer months making dehydration a real risk.
Night-time cycling isn't suggested because wildlife activity increases after dark and visibility decreases significantly.
Remember that cyclists must share pathways with hikers so be respectful when passing others on narrow tracks.
Hiking, Horseback Riding, Interpretive Trails
This park is located on Caballo Reservoir, south of Elephant Butte Reservoir along the Rio Grande. The lake provides excellent fall viewing of grebes, raptors, geese and ducks, quail, gulls, doves, owls, woodpeckers, phoebes, wrens, thrushes, thrashers, sparrows, and finches.
