Located on a branch of the Clearwater River, Placid Lake is known for its good trout fishing and smooth water. A number of facilities are provided for camping, picnicking, boating and swimming. Interpretive panels give an account of the early-day logging practices attested to by the massive western larch stumps in the area. The park is 32 acres in size and is 4,100 feet in elevation. There are 40 sites that offer flush toilets, a group use area, grills/firerings, firewood, picnic tables, trash cans, and drinking water. RV/trailer are limited in size to 25' and the maximum length of stay is 14 days in a 30 day period. A golf course is located nearby in Seeley Lake. For non-resident visitors, the day use fee is $5 per vehicle and camping fees are $12.00 for all seasons.

Swimming
1. Placid Lake State Park offers a designated swimming area with clear, calm waters.
2. The lake's shallow edges are perfect for children and novice swimmers.
3. Lifeguards aren't available so swim at your own risk.
4. Swimming is allowed throughout the day but night-time swimming isn't recommended due to safety concerns.
5. There are no equipment rentals on-site; bring your own floatation devices or water toys if needed.

Boating
The park offers a variety of boating options for visitors. It features a concrete boat ramp, making it easy to launch boats into the water. Motorized and non-motorized vessels are allowed on the lake, providing opportunities for activities like fishing or simply enjoying the scenic views from the water. Additionally, canoeing and kayaking are popular among guests due to calm waters of this alpine lake.
Fishing
Enjoy fishing in a serene lake setting, home to Northern Pike, Yellow Perch and various trout species. Try ice-fishing during winter months for an adventurous twist. Fishing equipment rentals are available on-site for convenience. Boating is also permitted to reach deeper waters or try fly-fishing from the shorelines.



Picnicking
Placid Lake State Park offers picnic tables and grills, perfect for family outings. Enjoy scenic views while eating outdoors.
Bicycling
For cycling enthusiasts, the park offers a variety of trails suitable for different skill levels.

Be aware that some paths are shared with hikers and horse riders.

The terrain can be challenging in parts; always wear appropriate safety gear.

Mountain biking is popular here due to diverse landscapes offering thrilling rides.

Ensure you have adequate water supply as there aren't many refill points along routes.

Some areas may not offer cell service so plan your route carefully beforehand.

Remember wildlife encounters could occur while riding, maintain safe distances at all times.

During winter months, certain tracks might close or become hazardous due to snowfall.


Birding
Birdwatchers can enjoy spotting a variety of species, including waterfowl and osprey. Bald eagles are also common sights.

park review stars; one to five This is a beautiful place, quiet, plenty of forest and great sunsets. It will certainly slow your pace down, for you will desire to take those long hikes, but do be careful, this is bear country.
