MATAPEAKE STATE PARK
Swimming
1. Matapeake State Park offers a public swimming beach with stunning views of the Chesapeake Bay.
2. Lifeguards are not provided, so swim at your own risk.
3. The park's sandy beaches provide ample space for sunbathing and picnicking near the water.
4. Swimming is allowed from sunrise to sunset throughout summer months only; it's prohibited during off-seasons due to safety concerns.
5. Pets are permitted on designated areas of the beach but must be leashed when out of water.

Boating
The park offers a public boat ramp that can be used for launching personal watercraft into the Chesapeake Bay. There is also fishing available from the shoreline or pier, and visitors are allowed to bring their own kayaks or paddleboards. However, there aren't any rental facilities within the park itself so all equipment must be brought in by visitors themselves.
Fishing
Located on Kent Island, it offers fishing opportunities from its pier. Anglers can catch Striped Bass and White Perch. Other species include Bluefish, Spot Fish, Croaker and Catfish. Fishing is available year-round with a valid license.

Picnicking
Matapeake State Park offers picnic tables and grills for visitors. There's also a pavilion available to rent for larger gatherings.
Birding
The park offers a variety of birding options, with its diverse habitats attracting numerous species. Birdwatchers can spot waterfowl, shorebirds and songbirds depending on the season. The area's woodland trails are ideal for spotting forest-dwelling birds. A public beach provides opportunities to observe seabirds up close.

Visitor Comments, Memories and Reviews
June 29 great for the kids by pier pops
park review stars; one to five At the beach the calm and warm water is a delight for younger kids (and their tired parents) and an excellent fishing pier is right next door; relatively clean bathrooms are located at each location and their is a lovely shaded picnic area next to the pier area with tables and grills.
September 3 Wonderful Place for a Wedding
park review stars; one to five Matapeake is one of those hidden landmarks. We came upon Matapeake when my daughter was getting married. We quickly booked the location and her wedding was one of the most beautiful spots. Our guests could not stop talking about how lovely the view was. The staff was also very helpful and efficent. Thank you!
