Nestled between Routes 146 and Routes 123, Lincoln Woods State Park is one of Blackstone Valley's great treasures. A short ride from Providence, Pawtucket, and Cumberland, it is a popular get away for northeastern Rhode Islanders. Visitors can enjoy swimming at the fresh water beach, trout fishing, playing ball, hiking, jogging, horseback riding, or just relaxing under a shade tree. A new addition to the park is the Eastern Mountain Sports kayak center. A New Covered Bridge at the Breakneck Hill Entrance has been dedicated in the spring of 2005.

History of the Area
The park was named for the 16th President of the United States of America, Abraham Lincoln on February 12, 1909.

Lincoln Woods was acquired by gifts, purchases and condemnations. Between 1908 and 1910, 457.41 acres were purchased by the Metropolitan Park System at a cost of $26,755.00. Then, after Nelson J. Ballou donated .59 acres, the total was raised to 458 acres in 1918. The swimming area at the park was known as Lincoln Woods State Beach and later as Olney Beach. Then on June 18, 1977, the swimming area was dedicated as the Frank Moody State Beach.

Swimming
1. Lincoln Woods State Park offers a freshwater beach for swimming.
2. Lifeguards are on duty seasonally to ensure swimmer safety.
3. The park's Olney Pond is popular among swimmers and sunbathers alike.
4. Swimming areas are clearly marked with buoys in the pond area.
5. Restrooms, showers, and changing facilities are available near the beach area for convenience after swimming activities.

Fishing
Enjoy fishing in a freshwater lake, home to largemouth bass and trout. Ice-fishing is popular during winter months.

Picnicking
Lincoln Woods State Park offers numerous picnic areas with tables and grills. Some sites even have covered pavilions for rent.
Bicycling
Cycling enthusiasts can explore a 2.5-mile paved loop, ideal for family rides or casual biking outings.

Mountain bikers may find the off-road trails challenging due to rocky terrain and steep inclines.

Bike rentals are not available on-site; visitors must bring their own bicycles if they wish to cycle around the park area.

Please note that helmets are mandatory for all cyclists under Rhode Island law, ensuring safety during your ride.

Be cautious of pedestrians as paths within this location also accommodate walkers and joggers alike.

Remember: always respect nature by staying on designated cycling routes only - do not venture into prohibited areas.
Birding
The park offers diverse birding opportunities with over 100 species spotted, including waterfowl and woodland birds. Birdwatchers can explore various habitats like forests, ponds, and wetlands. The Olney Pond is a popular spot for observing migratory ducks in winter months.
