Lake Pueblo, rated a fishing hot spot, provides over 4,600 surface acres of water, 60 miles of shoreline and almost 10,000 acres of land.

Full service marinas and a diversity of campsites welcome guests to stay awhile. Water recreation includes sailing, motor-boating, waterskiing, river tubing and prime fishing. Boaters choose from two full-service marinas and boat ramps.

Land recreation includes hiking, biking, picnicking and diverse nature exploration. Miles of trails make it easy to discover the beauty of the shady Arkansas River below the dam or the wonder of 200-year-old Juniper trees.

Views of the Greenhorn and Wet mountain ranges to the southwest and the magnificent Pikes Peak to the north are a splendid way to end the day.
History of the Area
Located in Pueblo County, Colorado, the park was established in 1975. It covers over 4,600 acres and includes a reservoir created by the Pueblo Dam which was completed in 1973 as part of Fryingpan-Arkansas Project for water management. The area is known for its outdoor recreational activities such as fishing, boating and camping. In addition to these amenities it also offers wildlife viewing opportunities with species like mule deer and birds being common sightings.

Passes
All Colorado State Parks have entrance fees. All vehicles are required to have an entrance pass and some parks have walk-in fees. Visit the Colorado Park Entrance Pass web page.

Lake Pueblo has 393 campsites spread throughout three different areas in the park.

Picnicking
Several individual picnic tables are spread throughout the park. A park pass is required to access the park.
Trails
- Arkansas Point Trail: A 3-mile loop trail, moderate difficulty with panoramic views of the reservoir and surrounding mountains.

- Stonehenge Trail: An easy 1.5 miles round trip hike that leads to a unique rock formation resembling England's famous monument.

- Raptor's Roost Loop: This is an intermediate level, single-track mountain bike trail spanning approximately two miles in length through varied terrain.

- Voodoo Loop Trail: At about five miles long, this moderately difficult hiking path offers scenic lake vistas and diverse wildlife sightings.

- Hooter's Edge Trial : Approximately three mile-long challenging route for experienced hikers featuring steep climbs over rocky terrains offering stunning overlooks of Lake Pueblo State Park

-Pedestal Rock Nature Tail - Easy half-a-mile walk suitable for all ages leading up to Pedestal Rock; provides opportunities for bird watching

-South Shore Trails - Over ten interconnected trails covering more than twenty-five total mileage along the southern shorelines providing beautiful water views

-Northern Plains Campground Trails - Network of short walking paths around campgrounds ideal for leisurely strolls or morning jogs

-Coyote Ridge Interpretive Nature Walk - One-third-of-a-mile educational nature walk displaying interpretative signs on local flora/fauna

-Rock Canyon Swim Beach Pathway- Short paved pathway from parking lot directly towards beach area perfect during summer months

-Hogback Section Loops- Series of small loops totaling six-miles designed primarily as biking tracks but also open to foot traffic

-Anticline Pond Walking Route-Short quarter-of-a mile flat track circling Anticline pond popular among families with young children

Directions
From Denver, Colorado:

- Head south on I-25.
- Continue for about 114 miles.
- Take exit 101 from I-25 S towards US50 W/ Pueblo Blvd.

After the Exit:

- Turn left onto CO47 E /US50 BUS W/Pueblo Boulevard.
- After approximately two miles, turn right onto Thatcher Avenue (CO96).
- Drive westward around five miles to reach Lake Pueblo State Park entrance.

From Albuquerque, New Mexico:

- Start by heading north on I-25 N toward Santa Fe/Denver
- Travel roughly three hours or so until you get to exit number 100B in Colorado.

At the Exit:

- Merge into US-50 Westbound via this ramp and continue straight ahead.
- Keep going till reaching a junction with Purcell Blvd; make a right here at traffic lights.
- Follow signs directing towards Lake Pueblo State park which is just few minutes away now.
