Swimming
1. Birch Creek State Park offers a designated swimming area on Lake Somerville.
2. No lifeguards are present, so swim at your own risk.
3. Swimming is permitted year-round due to Texas's warm climate.
4. The park does not provide any equipment for water activities; bring your own gear if needed.
5. Pets are allowed in the park but must be kept out of the swimming areas.

Fishing
Anglers can enjoy freshwater fishing in the park's lake, with species like largemouth bass and white crappie available. Catfish are also abundant here. Fishing gear is not provided so bring your own equipment. A valid Texas fishing license is required for those over 17 years old.

Birch Creek State Park is located near Brenham, Caldwell and College Station

Picnicking
Birch Creek State Park offers numerous picnic spots with tables, grills and stunning views. Some areas also have playgrounds nearby.
Bicycling
Cycling enthusiasts can enjoy several trails, though caution is advised due to varying terrain and potential wildlife encounters. Helmets are recommended for safety purposes. The park's roads offer a less challenging option but still require vigilance as they're shared with vehicles. Night cycling isn't permitted; ensure your ride ends before dusk for safety reasons.
Birding
Birdwatchers can spot various species like the Red-bellied Woodpecker, Eastern Bluebird and Carolina Chickadee. The park is also home to Bald Eagles in winter months.

Visitors may see migratory birds such as warblers during spring or fall migration seasons.

The area's diverse habitats attract a variety of waterfowl including ducks, herons and egrets.

There are several birding trails offering opportunities for spotting different types of songbirds, raptors and shorebirds.
