BATTLE ISLAND STATE PARK
BATTLE ISLAND STATE PARK
2150 State Route 48
Fulton, New York   13069

Phone: 315-593-3408
This park derived its name from a battle which took place on a nearby island on the Oswego River in the mid-1700s. In 1916 most of the land owned by F. A. Emerick was deeded to the state. Battle Island officially became a state park in 1938 when the remaining land was turned over.

The popular course near Fulton lies adjacent to the Oswego River and offers golfers magnificent views from a number of its fairways and greens. The 18-hole course is a challenging one for the "budding professional" and amateur player. The park also is used in winter for cross-country skiing.
Fishing
Battle Island State Park in New York offers a variety of fishing options for both novice and experienced anglers. The park is located on the eastern shore of the Oswego River, providing ample opportunities to fish from its banks or by boat.

The river hosts several species that are popular among fishermen including Smallmouth Bass, Walleye, Northern Pike and various types of panfish such as Bluegill and Yellow Perch. In addition to these common catches, there's also an occasional chance at landing larger game like Muskellunge (Muskie) or even Sturgeon.

Please note that all state fishing regulations apply within Battle Island State Park so make sure you have a valid license before casting your line!

Picnicking
Battle Island State Park in New York offers a variety of picnicking options for visitors. The park has several picnic areas with tables and grills where you can enjoy your meal while taking in the beautiful views of the Oswego River.

There are also pavilions available that provide shelter, making it an ideal spot even on rainy days or to escape from direct sunlight during summer months. These pavilions come equipped with electricity and water supply which makes them perfect for larger gatherings like family reunions or birthday parties.

The park's lush greenery provides ample space if you prefer laying out a blanket under trees for more casual, intimate picnics as well.

While enjoying your picnic at Battle Island State Park, there is plenty to do before or after eating such as hiking trails through forested hillsides along river banks offering scenic vistas; golfing at their 18-hole course; fishing opportunities abound within its waters too!
