Located just six miles south of Tupelo, Mississippi - Tombigbee State Park offers the finest in outdoor recreation opportunities minutes from one of Mississippi's premier shopping, dining and entertainment areas. Tupelo is the site of the bi-annual Tupelo Furniture Market, held in February and August; home of the Elvis Presley Birthplace; and the headquarters of the Natchez Trace Parkway.
Camping
1. Choctaw Lake Recreation Area: This area offers 18 campsites with water and electric hookups, picnic tables, grills, lantern posts and tent pads.

2. Davis Lake Recreation Area: It has a total of 14 camping sites available for RVs or tents that come equipped with electrical outlets as well as drinking water access points nearby.

3. Owl Creek Mounds Interpretive Site Campground: Although it doesn't have many amenities like the other campgrounds in Tombigbee National Forest do (no electricity or running water), this campground is perfect if you're looking to truly immerse yourself in nature during your stay at the forest.

4. Ackerman Unit Wildlife Management Areas Camping Grounds: The WMA provides primitive camping options where visitors can set up their own tents amidst beautiful natural surroundings.

5. Horse Hunter's Camp: A rustic horse:friendly site located near Noxubee Hills Trail System which includes over forty miles of multi-use trails suitable for hiking/biking/horseback riding etc.,.

6. Tombigbee Dispersed Camping: For those who prefer solitude while enjoying wilderness experience, dispersed backcountry camping is allowed throughout most parts of national forests unless otherwise posted.

1. Owl Creek Mounds Interpretive Trail: This is a 0.5-mile trail that takes hikers through the historic Native American mounds, offering an educational experience along with physical activity.

2. Davis Lake Recreation Area Trails: These trails are located around Davis Lake and offer various lengths from one to three miles long, providing beautiful views of the lake and surrounding forest area.

3. Witch Dance Horse Trail: A longer option at approximately 30 miles in length; this horse-friendly path winds its way through dense forests filled with wildlife sightings such as deer or wild turkey.

4. Noxubee Hills Bike/Hike Trails (North & South): Two separate but interconnected paths totaling over 25 miles for both hiking and biking enthusiasts alike - these trails provide challenging terrain amidst stunning natural scenery including creeks, hillsides, pine groves etc.,.

5. Choctaw Lake Recreational Area Hiking Pathway: An easy-to-moderate difficulty level pathway circling around Choctaw lake which offers scenic lakeside vistas perfect for family outings or leisurely hikes.

6. Ackerman Unit Multi-Use National Recreation Trail System: Comprising several different loops ranging between two to ten mile stretches suitable not only for hikers but also bikers, equestrians making it versatile recreational spot within Tombigbee Forest.

7. Natchez Trace Parkway Scenic Drive And Walking Paths: Although primarily known as a drive route, there are numerous short walking paths branching off main parkway allowing visitors chance explore diverse flora fauna found throughout region on foot.

8. Chickasaway Loop Nature Walks: Short nature walks designed specifically educate public about local ecosystem while promoting conservation efforts ; each loop focuses specific aspect environment like bird:watching butterfly spotting among others.

9. Tombigbee Pioneer Group Campground Hikes: Located near campground itself, these shorter hike options ideal camp:goers looking quick morning or evening stroll through woods without straying too far from their camping site.

10. Black Warrior Wildlife Management Area Trails: These trails are located in the southern part of Tombigbee National Forest and offer a variety of lengths, ranging from one to five miles long with varying levels of difficulty.

11. Shockaloe Horse Trail: This 23-mile trail is designed for horseback riding but also welcomes hikers who want explore deeper parts forest while enjoying tranquility offered by its remote location.

1. From Jackson, MS: Start by getting on I-20 E from State St and W Capitol St. Continue on I-20 E to Meridian.
2. Take exit 154A toward Birmingham/Mobile onto US:45 N/US-80E/I59 S.
3. Follow US:45 N until you reach Quitman, where you'll take a slight right onto County Rd 512/E Main Ave (signs for Shubuta).
4. Continue straight onto CR 512/Shubuta Clarke County Line Road after crossing into Clarke County.
5. Turn left at the first cross street onto Old Highway 84/Springhill Church Road/Old Hwy Waynesboro:Shubuta Rd/Waynesboro-Shu.
6. After approximately five miles, turn right towards Buckatunna:Chicora Clara road then continue straight ahead as it becomes Chicora:Buckatunna Station Roa.
7. Follow this road until reaching your destination: The Tombigbee National Forest.
