More than two miles of beautiful, unspoiled Atlantic beaches beckon visitors to this park. Across State Road A1A, this Florida haven shelters rare creatures such as Florida scrub-jays, indigo snakes, and gopher tortoises. Visitors can spend the afternoon swimming, sunning at the beach, or surf fishing. Bird-watchers will enjoy spotting the native and migratory species seen in this park. Located on State Road A1A four miles south of Flagler Beach.
Nature of the Area
Wildlife viewing is possible at the park. The park is on the "Atlantic Fly Way". The park is home to the endangered Florida Scrub Jays. Also pelicans, ospreys, and a wide variety of shorebirds can be spotted. The protected Florida Gopher Tortoise and the whitetail deer can be seen, as well as the elusive Florida bobcat.
History of the Area
This park was established in 1984. It spans over 900 acres and includes a three-mile beachfront. The area is home to various wildlife species including sea turtles who nest on the beaches annually. In addition to its natural beauty, it also has historical significance with remnants of Bulow Plantation dating back to early European settlers.

Passes
Annual Entrance Passes can be purchased at all park ranger stations and museums. If you require immediate use of your pass, this is the best option. Passes can be purchased during regular business hours 365 days a year. Please call the park in advance to ensure availability. Those who are eligible for discounted or free passes may use this method to receive their pass. Annual Entrance Passes may be purchased online by visiting the FLORIDA STATE PARKS ANNUALENTRANCE PASSES web page.
Swimming
1. North Peninsula State Park offers a 2-mile sandy beach for swimming.
2. Lifeguards are not provided, so swim at your own risk.
3. The park is open from sunrise to sunset for swimmers.
4. Swimming areas aren't separated from fishing or boating zones; caution is advised when in the water.
5. Pets are allowed on leashes but cannot enter the designated swimming area due to safety reasons.


Boating
Boating options within this park are plentiful. The Intracoastal Waterway provides a great location for boaters to explore, with boat ramps available at Highbridge Road and Smith Creek Landing. Canoeing or kayaking is also an option in the area's salt marshes and creeks where visitors can enjoy bird watching as well. However, it should be noted that there aren't any facilities for overnight docking of boats.

Beaches
Swimming, sunbathing, and shelling are popular activities along the park's 2 1/2 miles of beach
Fishing
Enjoy surf fishing along the 2.5-mile beach, catching species like whiting, pompano and flounder. Inland waters offer redfish and trout opportunities too.

The park's lagoon side is ideal for anglers targeting snook or tarpon during their respective seasons.

Fishing gear can be rented nearby if you don't have your own equipment with you.

Remember to follow all state regulations regarding size limits and bag restrictions when fishing in these areas.



Picnicking
North Peninsula State Park offers picnic tables and grills, perfect for a family outing. No pavilions or shelters are available.
Trails
The park offers a hiking trail that begins at Smith Creek Landing and runs 2 1/4 through the center park before looping back to Smith Creek Landing parking lot.
Bicycling
Biking enthusiasts can enjoy a 2-mile paved trail, perfect for leisurely rides. Be aware of pedestrians and wildlife.

The park's terrain is mostly flat, making it suitable for all skill levels. Always wear your helmet.

Off-road biking isn't allowed to protect the delicate ecosystem. Stick to designated paths only.

Remember that Florida weather can be unpredictable; bring water and sun protection on hot days or rain gear if needed.

Nighttime cycling is not permitted due to safety concerns - plan accordingly so you finish before dusk.

Always follow posted signs regarding closures or restrictions in certain areas within the park boundaries.

Birding
Birdwatchers can explore 2.5 miles of beach and dune habitats, home to various shorebirds and raptors. The park's coastal scrub environment also attracts songbirds during migration seasons.

Directions
Coming from the north, I-95 exit #284, turn left off exit and proceed east 3 miles to A1A, turn right and proceed 5 1/2 miles to Highbridge Road and turn right. Smith Creek Landing's entrance is about 500 yards west on Highbridge. Coming from the south, I-95 exit #268, turn right off exit and proceed east 5 miles to A1A, turn left and go 8 1/2 miles to Highbridge Road and turn left and proceed about 500 yards to entrance.
